How the VA rates it
Renal dysfunction rates on kidney function (eGFR): 30% = eGFR 45–59 · 60% = eGFR 30–44 · 80% = eGFR 15–29 · 100% = dialysis or eGFR under 15. Kidney stones rate separately (7508-09). Bad labs ARE the rating — many vets are told "we'll watch it" and never told it's ratable.

The evidence that wins
Service connection: Secondary to diabetes, hypertension, or long-term NSAID use — all three are recognized pathways. Burn pits under PACT for some GU cancers.
